TDEE and calorie deficit: build a realistic weight plan

Estimate BMR and TDEE, choose a moderate calorie deficit, and adjust the plan using real weight trends instead of treating one formula as exact.

01

Estimate maintenance before creating a deficit

Start with BMR, then apply an activity level to estimate TDEE. Avoid counting the same exercise twice through both a high activity multiplier and separate exercise calories.

02

Choose a deficit you can maintain

A larger mathematical deficit is not automatically a better plan. Food quality, hunger, training performance, recovery, sleep, and medical needs affect what is sustainable.

03

Use the calculator as a feedback loop

Track intake and body-weight trends consistently, then adjust gradually if the observed trend differs from the estimate. Short-term water changes can obscure fat loss or gain.
