What is the formula for the Speed Converter?
Speed Converter: converted = input × factor(from) / factor(to). Input definitions: value = Value; from = From unit; to = To unit. Use the selected convention throughout the calculation.
Convert speed between the displayed units using a common reference unit. The result keeps the input’s sign; select the exact unit rather than relying on an abbreviation alone.
Check the stated input format, calculation convention and limits before using the result.
Check the example inputs, then calculate. Your values stay in this browser.
Units are multiplicative; negative mathematical values are retained.
Speed Converter validates value, from unit, to unit before applying the displayed equation. Units are multiplicative; negative mathematical values are retained.

Speed Converter baseline input: Value: 1; From unit: m/s; To unit: km/h. Output: Converted value = 3.6 km/h. Substitute these values into the displayed equation to reproduce the result.

Understand the calculation
Speed is distance divided by time. A speed of 36 km/h becomes 36×1000/3600=10 m/s because both the distance and time unit change. Dividing kilometers per hour by 3.6 performs the same cancellation. Constant-speed travel time can then be distance/speed, but this conversion does not model acceleration or stops.
converted = input × factor(from) / factor(to)
