GPA CalculatorCalculate GPA from credit-weighted grade points, keeping the grade scale explicit. Convert letter grades using your institution’s own scale before entering them.CalculateCollege GPA CalculatorCalculate college GPA with an explicit inclusion flag per course. Mark pass/fail or other excluded courses as 0 only when your institution excludes them from GPA; included courses use credit-weighted grade points.CalculateSemester GPA CalculatorCalculate GPA for completed semester courses and the average grade points needed on remaining credits to reach a semester target. This is a semester plan, not a cumulative transcript GPA.CalculateCGPA CalculatorCalculate cumulative GPA from credit-weighted grade points, keeping the grade scale explicit. Previous GPA and credits are included in the weighted total.CalculateFinal Grade CalculatorProject the overall course grade from completed coursework, a final exam score and its weight. Enter a known or hypothetical exam score; use Required Grade to solve backwards from a target.CalculateRequired Grade CalculatorSolve for the remaining exam grade needed to reach a chosen overall grade. Treat the current grade as the average of the completed portion, not points already weighted across the entire course.CalculateExam Weighted Grade CalculatorCombine exam results using their stated weights. Weights below 100% produce an average of the supplied portion; the uncovered remainder is reported separately.CalculateGrade CalculatorCombine test scores using total earned points divided by total possible points. Larger possible-point totals carry more weight; every possible-point total must be positive.CalculateAssignment Grade CalculatorCombine assignment scores using total earned points divided by total possible points or explicit normalized weights. Each possible-point total must be positive.Calculate

Understand, then calculate

Make sense of the key numbers in Grades & GPA

An average needs an explicit denominator. For a GPA, the denominator is the sum of credits, while quality points are grade points multiplied by credits. A three-credit course therefore contributes three times as much as a one-credit course at the same grade. Changing the institution’s scale changes the inputs, not the weighted-mean equation. Zero-credit courses do not alter the weighted mean, and a row with a zero grade still contributes its credits to the denominator.

Percent weights describe fractions of a course, not raw possible points. A score of 18 out of 20 and a score of 45 out of 50 both equal 90%, but their contribution depends on whether the course uses total points or separate weights. When a final target is solved backwards, isolate the unknown remaining grade rather than adding the target to the current score. Results above 100% identify a target beyond the model’s full-mark bound; they are not automatically capped because capping would hide the feasibility issue.

Essential concepts

Core terms in plain language

Understand the recurring inputs and results instead of reading only the final number.

Grade points
A numeric grade on your institution’s scale, not the raw exam percentage.
Quality points
Grade points multiplied by GPA-bearing credits.
Assessment weight
An assessment’s percentage of the overall course grade, distinct from its maximum score.
Required exam score
The unknown score solved from the target overall grade and remaining weight.

Which calculator should you use?

Use these distinctions to move through the Grades & GPA tools without comparing unrelated results.

  1. 01

Use GPA or CGPA for credit-weighted grade points; check your school’s scale and inclusion policy.

  2. 02

Use final grade to calculate a known exam outcome, or required grade to solve for an unknown score.

  3. 03

Use total points only when the course adds earned and possible points; otherwise use its explicit weights.

Check the stated input format, calculation convention and limits before using the result.

Common questions

What else to know about Grades & GPA

These answers explain how to use the estimates and where their limits begin.

How do I choose a tool?

Use GPA or CGPA for credit-weighted grade points; check your school’s scale and inclusion policy. Use final grade to calculate a known exam outcome, or required grade to solve for an unknown score. Use total points only when the course adds earned and possible points; otherwise use its explicit weights.

Does this implement my school’s grading policy?

Enter the school’s numeric scale, credits, inclusion flags and assessment weights. The tools do not infer retake replacement, letter-grade mapping or pass/fail policy from a course name.
